ABOUT US
Kathy Escobar Harvey's great-grandparents Pasquel and Simona Escobar opened a small taqueria in West Los Angeles in 1924. Kathy’s grandparents Juan and Rosa continued the tradition by opening the first “Casa Escobar” in 1946. Her father Peter Escobar helped run that restaurant until opening a “Casa Escobar” of his own. Peter has since owned and operated several restaurants all over Southern California, including Casa Escobar in Marina Del Rey.
Like her father, and her father’s father before her, Kathy introduces the authentic Sonoran recipes of her grandmother Rosa, and blends them with influences from her Chef; Chef Enrique from Mexico City as well as dishes from the coastal region of Veracruz and of Oaxaca. The vibrant Latin colors and interior of Casa Escobar Malibu were envisioned by Kathy herself, and constructed by her husband Russell.
The restaurant is reminiscent of the rich, Sonoran traditions of the 1940’s; contrasted by a pulsating and colorful Latin ambiance with Malibu local flare. The flavors of Mexico truly come alive at Casa Escobar Malibu, especially when complemented by what is one of the best margaritas in town.
